Safe Housing for Women in Tanzania

Last month, we stepped into a new chapter of empowerment and restoration. We officially launched the ARISE program, a safe housing initiative for women in Tanzania who are facing high-risk situations.

Our very first residents are two women—both single mothers—who have shown remarkable courage in the midst of heartbreaking challenges. One came to us after years of being exploited through prostitution as a way to survive. The other, a young mother, was caught in a desperate situation with no safe place to call home.

For their protection and dignity, we won’t share their names or faces, but what matters most is their story of hope. With a secure roof over their heads, they can finally rest without fear. Each month, these women will receive food, shelter, counseling, community, and job skills to help them become who God created them to be—in complete freedom.

The ARISE program is more than housing; it’s a lifeline. It’s a place where women are empowered to heal, to learn, and to discover their God-given worth. We believe that when women rise, families and communities rise with them.

This is just the beginning. As these two women take their first steps toward freedom and stability, we dream of expanding this program to reach many more who are waiting for hope.

Thank you to our AFTN community who made this possible.
